What color should I paint my kitchen cabinets and how do I do the job?

I want to paint my kitchen cabinets. What color? What are the steps? Should I have a professional painter do the job? There are just so many questions. I think I am going to take the plunge. So, of course, I went to the experts regarding color and process.
